Welcome 2010/2011 Crimson Cadets,
We are off to a new and exciting year; we have a wonderful new Instructor of Music Education (fancy phrase for Band Director) Mr. Neil Anderson and a lot of work to do. While we won’t forget our past; its time to build a new stronger program under his direction. Our history is strong, but each year we must start over and create a new legacy.
We are just about to complete P.O.W. (formally know as band camp) and all I can say is WOW. While I can’t speak for everyone, I can say that Mr. Anderson is strong in his knowledge of how to lead this program and lead his staff. We are very blessed to have him on board. We have a Pageantry team Jeff and Tiff you are amazing. Pete and Erasmo, the Pit and Drum line ROCK!!! I would also like to thank the many musical and pageantry clinicians that have and will come by to help our students learn more of the technical things they need to grow.
It is now our turn (Boosters) to keep this program running and growing. We have a lot to do and I don’t have a doubt about our abilities. So I will Thank You ahead of time for the work that has and will be done throughout Marching and Concert Season. The Crimson Cadets are still facing financial struggles, but we are off to a good start. I need each and every parent to make it his or her mission to commit your time to helping the program. Last year was a struggle and we didn’t use our amazing booster’s the best we could, but we are on a mission to include everyone that wants to participate in the activities of their student and the program as a whole. We have a lot of fundraising to do and I expect that we can pull it off with commitment and grace.
Our Music for this marching season is called “The X Factor”, and the student leadership has a great mission statement that works for this show. It is as follows:
At this point we have 5 tournaments, a few parades and hopefully Championships to go to. We will again host an SCSBOA tournament on 11/17/10. We will finish the season with another walk down Main Street at Disneyland and maybe a few surprises. During Concert Season we have 3 showcase concerts, festivals and support our Winter Guard that is now 26 strong. Music Under the Stars is scheduled for May 27th and we will need to get to work on that as soon as possible. Mr. Lorenzen started it and we plan to make it grow into an event that the whole town looks forward to and supports.
Have a great year!
